No Tourist-to-Student Switch

You cannot enter Spain on a tourist visa and switch to a student visa. You must apply from India.

30-Hour Work Right

Your student visa card (TIE) will automatically authorize you to work 30 hours/week.

Checklist for Indian Applicants

  • 1. Acceptance Letter: Detail course dates & study hours.
  • 2. Financial Means (IPREM): Show approx €7,200/year (Bank statements, Scholarship).
  • 3. Medical Insurance: Full coverage, no co-payments, repatriation included.
  • 4. Medical Certificate: Issued by MBBS doctor, Apostilled by MEA.
  • 5. PCC: Police Clearance Certificate, Apostilled by MEA.
Process: Get Offer ➔ Apostille ➔ Insurance ➔ File at BLS ➔ Fly.

Residency: The TIE Card

Visa is valid for 90 days. You must apply for TIE within 30 days of arrival.

  • 1. Empadronamiento: Register address at Town Hall.
  • 2. Fingerprinting: Appointment at National Police Station.
  • 3. Collection: Pick up card after 30-45 days.
